What are WWF Conservation Partners?
Conservation Partners are multinational companies that significantly contribute -in many different ways - towards WWF's global conservation work.
Why Conservation Partnerships?Independent research shows that consumers have high regard for a company that invests in its social and environmental responsibilities. Corporate Social Responsibility is a recognised and growing business framework which enables corporations to measure their impact on society and the environment
WWF understand that corporations have their share of things to answer for but the solutions to key conservation problems will either be common solutions or they won't be solutions at all.
That is not to say businesses will necessarily provide all the answers, but with the 'Conservation Partnership' programme, WWF ensures that corporations take their corporate environmental responsibility seriously by adopting challenging targets for change in their own business, and promoting a sector-wide shift to sustainable development and corporate best practice.
What does it take to become a Conservation Partner?
Companies that enter into a partnership with WWF develop a unique relationship that is based on a balance between these key areas:
- Conservation
The partnership will deliver direct conservation benefits as well as setting standards for the environmental improvement within the business and its sector. In collaboration, both parties set key conservation targets and objectives and implement a series of monitoring and evaluation tools to keep the partnership in check.
- Communications
Based on the development and successes of the partnership, a communication strategy is designed for key internal and/or external audiences.
- Joint learning initiatives
- Conservation partnerships
Allow the opportunity for joint employee learning initiatives, designed to educate and stimulate environmental awareness amongst employees as well as to learn business practices from both parties.
- Investment
The partnership either allows for investment in WWF's overall global conservation aims or in a particular targeted programme.
