Prices start at $15 and are offered online at panda.org/gifts. You can choose to pay in US Dollars or Euros and the certificate you download at the end is personalized with their and your name.
Why are these gifts only online?
Because WWF’s Gifts for a Living Planet are only available online, WWF won’t mail you or the recipient anything in the post. We’ll email you a link to a PDF version of the certificate, which means you can always access it from your inbox. If it gets misplaced or damaged before you see your friend, simply print it out again.
This easy and hassle-free approach means no additional shipping costs, and even better, no excess packaging or mailing – Not only does your money go further, because the automated system helps to lower administration costs, but the ecological impact of these gifts is smaller.
How do the gifts work?
It’s easy.
You buy a gift from panda.org/gifts and you download a personalized certificate. That's it!
The certificate's got both your name and theirs so that they’ll remember the gift that you chose for them. You could even put it in a frame for them to display proudly.
And then WWF staff make your gift happen. A polar bear really will get a tattoo because of your gift, and we really will be rehabilitating turtles so that they can be re-released into the ocean.
What if WWF raises more than is needed?
It’s true, we can only replace so many goats for herders in Mongolia, or give so many polar bears tattoos, and it’s hard to predict just how popular each of these gifts will be.
We’ve set up processes to ensure that even if we sell too many of any of our Gifts for a Living Planet, your money will still be directed to the most related activity within the program you’ve chosen. If you give a polar bear a tattoo, your money may also go towards other polar bears conservation activities, such as our work in the Arctic and our work to combat climate change.
The only exception to this is with the Name that Turtle, Watch it Go! gift. In the very unlikely event that we sell more gifts than we have satellite turtle trackers, somebody from WWF will contact you directly to discuss alternative options. Because this gift is so specialized – both for you and WWF’s program staff, however, it is more likely that WWF will offer a new gift at panda.org/gifts before we sell more than we can offer.
If you don't mail cards or toys, what do we get when we buy a Gift for a Living Planet?
Each Gift for a Living Planet comes with a personalized certificate tailored to the gift you just bought.
You can download and either print the PDF version of the certificate for the person, or send it to them via email so that they can print it themselves.
The certificate is a great conversation piece, and something to be proud of. The next time you see the person, don’t be surprised if you find the certificate on the wall in their office or on the fridge.

Will my money really fund the same gift I choose?
Absolutely.
At WWF we have set up systems to ensure your money goes where you direct it.
If WWF sells more gifts than we need for a particular gift, your money could go to support activities that support the same or similar projects, but the money will still be directed to help whatever project it is you’ve chosen.

What else is included in the price of my gift?
We include any related coordination, transportation and some costs that are directly related to research, training and equipment in the price of the gift.
We are also obliged to include the cost of producing and administering the Gifts for a Living Planet program in the overall cost of these gifts.
WWF promises to make the best use of our supporters’ money by making the biggest possible difference to projects that need it most around the world. We have chosen gifts that are simple, yet vital to achieving conservation around the world.
How do you choose the gifts that are sold and how do you price them?
WWF focuses on places and issues that are crucial to the long-term health of our planet and all life that is found on it. In doing this we have prioritized those areas around the world which represent globally outstanding examples of biodiversity. Within those areas we aim to ensure the long-term security of these very special places.
All the gifts have been identified as essential to individual projects. As well, because of WWF’s reach through our global network, many of these gifts will give again because we can use the learning or successes and transfer them to similar projects in other regions of the world.
We have also chosen gifts that help to communicate the reach and scope of WWF’s work. When you Send a Child to Nature Club in Madagascar, you are helping to save the island's species and habitats by working with communities to develop sustainable practices and ensure future generations will be able to appreciate the many wonders found only here.
Similarly, with Put a Cork in it! Plant a Tree, it means preserving the region’s biodiversity and habitat for rare species like the Iberian lynx and Imperial eagle, as well as supporting the livelihood and culture of local people.
Every gift you give through WWF goes directly to that project, but because these programs are so crucial to the bigger conservation picture, your gift really does mean so much more.
The pricing of gifts is based on the specific project, and what it costs our researchers to implement each individual gift in that project’s region. In some cases, the cost also includes the costs associated with delivering and maintaining the item or service.
How much do you spend on marketing and production of WWF’s Gifts for a Living Planet?
This is the first year that WWF International is doing a program like this, and as a result we are testing in the most cost effective way possible.
In fact, we're hoping you'll do the marketing for us. Tell your friends that you'd like a Gift for a Living Planet, or send a link to www.panda.org/gifts to people who don't know what to get their friends and family.
We are constantly working to minimise the costs and maximise the amount going to our projects around the world. We are able to keep very low margins through this program as it is all done online.
Because we need to keep costs low, you may find that our systems are less sophisticated than some other virtual gifts programs (for example, it is only possible to buy one gift type at a time, as developing a more complex ‘shopping cart’ proved too costly for a ‘test’ program).
Because we can’t yet predict the program’s success, we needed to use a low cost option for WWF's Gifts Online program. Please bear with us, and buy as many gifts and options as you can.
If the Gifts for a Living Planet program succeeds, we’ll be able to take that learning and make it even better next year!

Additionally, when you buy a gift, you are given the opportunity to subscribe to WWF International’s monthly online newsletter.
In this newsletter there will be updates about the Gifts for a Living Planet program, including follow up on some of the news and successes related to each of the gifts.
Unfortunately, we are unable to tell you exactly where the particular gift that you have bought will be allocated to, as this would be too costly administratively and mean that less money would be available to use where it is needed most.
What’s the most important gift to buy?
All of the gifts have been identified as essential – both to WWF’s overall conservation goals, and by the staff that are working on each of the projects.
Many of our projects are under-funded and in desperate need of support.
The more Gifts for a Living Planet WWF is able to sell, the more success we will see in our long-term goal to save nature.
Of course, there is great need to expand our projects around the world and there were many projects that we weren’t able to include in our Gifts for a Living Planet program this year.
You can also make your gift go further by making an additional donation that we will direct to other WWF projects that desperately need funding. This money ensures that WWF is able to continue our work on a global scale to protect and preserve endangered wildlife and habitat and to combat growing international threats like global warming.
To add an additional contribution that will be directed to some of WWF’s projects that need it most, enter the amount you would like to donate when you come to the field that asks “My extra contribution is”.

It will have the name of the gift you bought as well as some information about where the money will go, as well as both of your names, which makes it more personal. They could even frame it, if they wanted.
How do I place an order?
At www.panda.org/gifts you can choose any of the nine gifts. Click “buy now!” once you’ve selected which gift you’d like to buy.
What if I want more than one gift?
You can buy the same gift as many as 10 times during a single transaction.
For instance, you can Send Two Turtles to Rehab – one for your dad and one for your best friend during the same transaction. Simply click on ‘add another recipient’ while you’re filling out the form.
If, however, you would like to Invest in a Gorilla’s Paradise for your sister, and Put a Cork in it! Plant a Tree for your brother and your uncle, you will need to first process the gift of Invest in a Gorilla’s Paradise, and then go through and make a separate payment in order to process the Cork gifts.
You mean I can’t buy two different types of Gifts for a Living Planet during the same purchase?
Unfortunately at this point, because it was very important for us to ensure your money was going to buy the gift you’ve chosen, we must process different gift types in different transactions.
We know it’s not ideal, but as this is the first time WWF has offered Gifts for a Living Planet, we do not have the necessary functionality in place to handle a ‘shopping cart’ style of gifts. This was the best way to offer unique and interesting gifts and keep the administration costs down.
You can, however add an additional contribution that will be directed to some of WWF’s projects that need it most. If you would like to, enter the amount you would like to donate when you come to the field that asks “My extra contribution is”.
You will then be asked to complete the name and email of the recipient, as well as your own personal details, as you would like them to appear on the certificate (click here to see a sample certificate<Your Name Their Name>).
Once you have verified that the information will appear on each certificate as you would like it to, you can click on the button that says, “Please proceed to order confirmation”.
Next you will be transferred to WorldPay’s secure pages to process your payment. Verify that the amount of your gift is correct and choose which credit card you will be using to pay for the gift.
Here is where you enter your credit card information. The gift-giver’s details should be automatically transferred to this payment page.
If the credit card holder’s details are different from the person’s name on the certificate, don’t forget to make that change!
Submit your payment and wait for the confirmation of the order. At this stage you can click on the link that will take you to a page where a link to your personalized PDF version certificate(s) can be downloaded from.
Save your certificates to your computer so that you can print or email them to your friend!
What if I lost the certificate?
Don’t worry if you lose the certificate. You’ll have a thank you email waiting for you in your inbox with a link to the page where you can download your personalized certificates again.
How do I know if my order has gone through?
A printable Confirmation Page should appear once your order has gone through, detailing your order.
You should also receive two immediate email confirmations (as long as you entered your email address correctly!).
The first email will be from WorldPlay and will confirm your credit card transaction.
The second message will be a thank you email from WWF. This email also has a link to the page where you can download your personalized certificate(s).
If you opted to receive WWF International’s electronic newsletter, you will be sent a third email asking you to confirm your email address and your desire to receive communications from WWF.
And then WWF staff will make your gift happen. A polar bear really will get a tattoo because of your gift, and WWF really will be rehabilitating and re-releasing turtles into the ocean.
What should I do if I get an error message?
If you receive an error message to say that your order has not been placed, then please try again, checking first to see whether you have received an email confirmation, which will mean that your order has gone through.
